Why are you running for office? I am tired of the bickering in Augusta. Also, there has been a significant step-back from the transparency of State Government from the 1980's. People don't trust their government and that has to be reversed. Most importantly, my beloved Aroostook County is being marginalized by the elite in Augusta and I want to make sure they know we are alive and well.

Poltical Experience:

1979-1976 Maine House of Representatives

1976-1986 Maine Senate

1990-1994 Maine Attorney General

The federal health care law has offered to pay states to expand their Medicaid programs to provide health coverage to low income Mainers. Do you support Medicaid (or MaineCare) expansion?Yes

I would support Maine Care expansion with an opt out option.

Reform of the state’s public assistance programs has been the focus of debates in the State House and on the campaign trail. Do you believe that the state’s welfare programs are too generous?Other

What, if anything, would you change about welfare?I do think we can do a better job of making sure the benefits go to those for whom they are intended. There needs to be a comprehensive review of all the social welfare programs to build better safeguards against fraud.

Do you support raising the state’s minimum wage from $7.50 an hour?Yes

By how much?I haven't yet decided what level I could support but it has to be raised significantly.

Would you support legalization of marijuana? No

Please explain your position on legalization?I do not support.
