The federal health care law has offered to pay states to expand their Medicaid programs to provide health coverage to low income Mainers. Do you support Medicaid (or MaineCare) expansion?Yes

I cosponsored 2 Medicaid expansion bills that were brought forward in the 126th Legislative Session. I feel very strongly that all people need access to healthcare. We need to accept the Federal money and look to the future.

Reform of the state’s public assistance programs has been the focus of debates in the State House and on the campaign trail. Do you believe that the state’s welfare programs are too generous?Yes

What, if anything, would you change about welfare?I believe in helping those who are truly in need. We really need to crack down on those who abuse the system. Welfare was not meant to be a living.

Do you support raising the state’s minimum wage from $7.50 an hour?Yes

By how much?I support raising the minimum wage to $8.50 an hour. It has been several years since the last increase.

Would you support legalization of marijuana? No

Please explain your position on legalization?I would not support legalizing recreational marijuana. I only support marijuana for medicinal purposes.
